Okay peeps, what do you think of this picture? I'm going to sign up with an online-dating thing. I need a picture. Maybe I need to actually wear make up for a picture? Maybe I need to lose the glasses? I dunno. Filling in the forms feels like applying for a job. But worse. I have this nagging feeling that the men I'm interested in really want someone who is under 30, thin and blond. Sigh.

Good luck with the online dating! I met my husband online but I had to go out with some odd people before that. I also wasn't under 30, thin or blond so I didn't lie in my description but I opted not to put my picture up either.
I would vote for you to put up a cheerful snap of you out and about in the garden, etc rather than a pic in front of a blank wall. That way it'll be a natural reflection of you having fun. That's always attractive to others. :-)
If they want blonde and 30, then they AREN'T the men you are interested in are they? Silly duffer! The men YOU are interested in are the ones who are looking for YOU! I like the photo because it really does look like you, but I think Tami has a good point that an action shot shows something of who you are not just what you look like.
I think there are a lot of good people out there on-line dating!
well there's a point. I want someone who's looking for me. right. noted. I'll see if I can find him!
It's a lovely smiley photo though - I like it! Can you post more than one?
I can post more than one. Maybe I'll take some more sometime.
I sometimes find that the best self portraits are the one where you just hold the camera in front of yourself and shoot a few. You end up laughing at how ridiculous some of them are then some of that amusement makes it's way into a few of the shots. Good luck! ps: I like this picture. You look relaxed and happy - neither of which most of us are at thirty!
I'll take some pix when you come to visit me!
